(LAKEWOOD, NJ.) – Another solid start from Sandy Nin led the Alley Cats to a 6-1 win over Lakewood Sunday afternoon. It was the third straight victory for the Cats over the BlueClaws.

Lakewood scored a run in the bottom of the first inning off of Nin (1-2), but it would be the only run the BlueClaws would score all day. Nin went six innings, allowed six hits, and one run, didn't walk a batter and struck out three to pick up his first win. The right-hander has allowed just three runs in his last three starts, a span of 21 innings.

The Alley Cats took the lead in the third inning. Jason Waugh drew a leadoff walk and later scored on a two-out single by Maikel Jova to tie the game. Justin Owens followed with a base hit through the left side of the infield to score Miguel Negron and give the Cats their first lead. Jova scored on a passed ball to make it 3-1 Charleston.

The Cats would add another run in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Negron that scored Waugh from first base. Waugh scored three runs on the day, while Negron went 4-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Charleston made it 5-1 with doubles in the fifth by Waugh and Negron. The Alley Cats scored the final run of the day on a single by Jova that drove home David Corrente in the eighth.

Adam Peterson worked the final three innings to pick up his first save. He gave up two hits, walked two, and struck out four.

Charleston improved to 10-7 on the road. Lakewood has dropped 16 of their last 18 games.

The two clubs meet for another doubleheader Monday night at 6:05. Ismael Ramirez (2-0 2.22 ERA) will face Matt Sweeney (0-2, 4.50 ERA) in game one. Eric Stephenson (2-2, 4.20) will make his first start of the year for the Cats in game two. Lee Gwaltney (2-2, 2.96 ERA) will go for the BlueClaws.
