Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky announced today that Julie Allemand has opted out of the 2023 season to focus on her commitments with the Belgium National Team this summer.

"We completely respect Julie's decision to stay overseas," Chicago Sky General Manager/Head Coach James Wade said. "We understand that these decisions are never easy to make and she will certainly be missed this season. She knows what is best for her and her career and we wish her nothing but success."

Allemand, a 5'8" guard, was originally drafted by Indiana with the 33rd overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft, but did not play for the Fever until the 2020 bubble season. She immediately became a breakout player in 2020 and starter for the team immediately, Allemand ended her first season ranked second in the league in both assists and second in the league in three-point percentage. She sat out the 2021 WNBA season to compete with the Belgium Olympic team.

In 2022 with the Sky, she appeared in 25 games and averaged 3.0 points, 3.4 assists in 16.1 minutes.

The Chicago Sky tip off the 2023 season on Friday, May 19 against the Minnesota Lynx in Minneapolis at 7:00 p.m. CST. Follow @chicagosky on social media and sky.wnba.com for the latest news, content and ticket purchasing.
