
All-Star Reliever Gayhart Promoted to Lakeland

The West Michigan Whitecaps, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers, announced today that right-handed pitcher Jared Gayhart has been promoted to High A Lakeland and right-handed pitcher Nick Cassavechia has been promoted to the Whitecaps from Short Season Oneonta.
Gayhart is 5-3 with a 1.97 ERA, three saves and 49 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched with the Whitecaps this season. He was also selected to the Eastern Division All-Star squad.
Cassavechia, a 37th round selection by the Tigers in the June 2008 draft, is 1-0 with two strikeouts in three innings pitched for Oneonta this season. He spent the 2008 season with GCL and Oneonta, compiling a combined 2-2 record with a 1.39 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 32.1 innings of work.
