St. Joseph, MO - The Sioux Falls Canaries (3-6) suffered their fifth straight loss on Saturday night, falling 5-1 against the St. Joe Blacksnakes.

The Blacksnakes (3-6) used the long ball to get out in front on Saturday night. Wil Quintana hit his fifth home run of the year in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. Jefferson Infante hit his first of the year in the fifth inning to put St. Joe ahead 2-0.

In the sixth inning, St. Joe added to their lead. Mark Burke hit a leadoff double. Then with two outs Terrell Merriman doubled to score Burke for a 3-0 lead. Jake Whitesides followed with a two-run homer, his first of the year, making it 5-0.

The Canaries got their lone run of the game in the eighth. Ralph Santana reached on a throwing error by Blacksnakes shortstop Jimmy Mojica. Santana then scored on a double by Chad Hermansen for the 5-1 final.

Donovan Graves (1-1) pitched six innings of four-hit shutout baseball in the win. Matt Petrusek (0-1) suffered the loss. J.C. Huget came on to shut down a potential Canaries rally in the ninth for his second save of the year.
