
Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath Selected to U.S. Women's National Team

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Thorns FC forward Alex Morgan and midfielder Tobin Heath have been named to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the four-team Brasilia Tournament set to begin on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Brasilia, Brazil.
The U.S. Women's National Team will play four games from Dec.10-21, at the National Stadium Mane Garrincha in Brasilia, Brazil. The United States opens the tournament against China PR on Dec. 10, at 1:20 p.m. (Pacific), faces the host Brazil on Dec. 14 at 12:45 p.m. (Pacific) and plays Argentina on Dec. 17, at 1:20 p.m. (Pacific). The final match of the round-robin tournament will take place on Dec. 21. The top two teams will square off for the tournament championship while the bottom two countries will play for third place.
Morgan, 25, appeared in 14 matches (13 starts) for Thorns FC after missing the first half of the season while recovering from an ankle injury. The U.S. Women's National Team forward finished the NWSL regular season with six goals and four assists. Morgan started the first two matches of the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championships, but suffered a sprained ankle and was unable to participate in the remainder of the tournament. In 2014 with the United States, Morgan has recorded five goals and four assists in seven appearances (four starts).
Heath, 26, made five appearances (all starts) for Thorns FC during the 2014 regular season. At the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championships, Heath appeared in four matches (three starts), recording two goals and two assists as the United States finished first and qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada. Heath has made 12 appearances (six starts) in 2014 for the United States, scoring three goals and tallying three assists.
