
Albies, Bradley Claim Weekly Honors

PEARL, MS -- Infielder Ozzie Albies and LHP Jed Bradley have been named Mississippi Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, August 14.
In five games during the week, Albies posted a .435 batting average with a double, triple and four RBI. He also swiped three bases. Albies is the Braves No. 6 prospect and also ranks among Baseball America's Top 100 at No. 63. In 62 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Albies is hitting .333 with 14 doubles, five triples, two homers and 24 RBI. He's hitting .455 against southpaws. Tagged the "Best Infield Arm" among Braves minor leaguers, the Curacao native started the season at Mississippi but went to Triple-A Gwinnett at the end of April. In 56 contests, Albies was hitting .248 with 16 extra-base hits and 20 RBI before rejoining the M-Braves June 30. The shortstop was signed by the Braves as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2013.
Bradley, 25, tossed seven shutout innings and held the Suns to just three hits while striking out eight batters as the M-Braves defeated Jacksonville 6-2 Sunday afternoon. In 15 games (10 starts) for the Double-A Braves this season, Bradley is 4-3 with a 2.35 ERA. Before joining the Braves, Bradley was 3-2 with a 6.20 ERA in 17 relief appearances with the Biloxi Shuckers. He split time last season between Double-A Biloxi (1-1, 3.31) and Triple-A Colorado Springs (2-4, 9.00), appearing in 23 and 20 contests respectively. The Huntsville, AL, native was originally selected by the Brewers in the first round of the 2011 draft out of Georgia Tech. Bradley was acquired by the Braves from Milwaukee and assigned to Double-A Mississippi on July 3.
