Published on August 15, 2016 under Southern League (SL1) News Release

MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announces its Pitcher and Player of the Week for August 8 through 14. Lefthander Jed Bradley of the Mississippi Braves was selected as Pitcher of the Week, while Biloxi Shuckers rightfielder Clint Coulter earned Player of the Week honors.

With his third Southern League franchise, M-Braves lefty Jed Bradley earns his first Pitcher of the Week award after a dominant start on the bump. Over seven shutout innings on August 14, the southpaw out of Georgia Tech scattered three hits and did not walk a batter, pacing his club to a 6-2 over Jacksonville. Using 54 of his 78 pitches for strikes, the Huntsville, Alabama native fanned eight Suns batters. More importantly, the win saw his Braves club maintain a six game lead for the South Division second-half title.

In just his first full week at the Double-A level, Clint Coulter was the definition of consistency. The Shuckers rightfielder recorded a base hit in each game in which he tallied a plate appearance. Over those five games, the Camas, Washington native batted .474 with two runs, nine hits, three extra-base hits, 16 total bases, a double, two homeruns, four RBI, a .500 on-base percentage, .842 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.342. His most impressive performance came over a two game stretch on August 13 and 14 in Jackson, Tennessee. Coulter went 5-for-7 with two runs, a double, two homeruns and four RBI in those two contests.
