Medicine Hat, AB -- The Medicine Hat Tigers would like to congratulate the Albert Golden Bears who captured the CIS Men's Hockey Championships in Halifax Sunday evening.

The University of Alberta Golden Bears claimed the Cup for the second consecutive year as CIS Men's Hockey Champions after defeating the University of New Brunswick Varisty Reds by a 6-3 score. The Golden Bears roster boasted three former Tigers, Dylan Bredo, Jordan Hickmott and Thomas Carr.

Hickmott played 2 season with the Tigers in 2006-07 and 2007-08 recording 16 points in 84 games. Hickmott is in his 4th year as a Golden Bear recording 40 points during the regular season in just 28 games. Hickmott was also tied for the tournament lead in points for the University Cup with 4 goals and 2 assists.

Bredo just graduated from the Tigers roster as a 20 year old last season, after 5 years with the club. Bredo never missed a game for 4 consecutive seasons and was an integral part to the Tigers run to the Eastern Conference championship last year. During his time with the Tigers Bredo collected 137 points in 341 games played as a forward and defenseman. Bredo is in his rookie season as a Golden Bear and will be a big part of the green and yellow for years to come.

Carr spent three seasons with the Tigers from 2008-09 to 2010-11. The hulking defenseman from Edmonton was an assistant captain during his tenure in Medicine Hat and was a shut down guy during all three seasons. Carr is also in his 4th season with the Golden Bears, recording 16 points this season in 28 games.

The Tigers organization congratulates these three alumnus of the Tigers on a job well done and a successful season!
