
Albany Devils Sign Steve Bernier

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Albany Devils announced today that they have signed right-winger Steve Bernier to an AHL contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Chris Lamoriello. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
Bernier, 26, joins the AHL Devils after spending the 2010-11 season with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. In 68 games with the Panthers, the Quebec City native posted five goals and 10 assists for 15 points. He was acquired by Florida on June 25, 2010 in a trade with Vancouver. Bernier has had four different stops in the NHL, playing for San Jose (2005-08), Buffalo (2008), Vancouver (2008-10) and Florida. His career totals show 76 goals and 83 assists for 159 points in 385 games. Last month, Bernier attended New Jersey's training camp on a tryout basis.
At the American Hockey League level, Bernier has amassed 23 goals and 27 assists for 50 points in 59 games. He played for Cleveland in 2005-06, totaling 43 points (20g-23a) and for Worcester in 2006-07, posting seven points (3g-4a). The 6-3, 220-lb., right-shooting forward, is a product of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, registering 151 goals and 162 assists for 313 points in 271 games for Moncton. He was named to the league's All-Rookie Team in 2002 and was a Second Team All-Star in 2003 and 2004.
Bernier was drafted 16th overall by San Jose during the 2003 NHL Draft.
