April 8, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that goaltender Chad Alban has been selected as the UHL's Sher-Wood Hockey Goaltender of the Month for March.
Alban had a monster month, as he was the catalyst that propelled the K-Wings 10 game-winning streak. The Kalamazoo native, went a perfect 7-0-0- in the month and had a microscopic 1.65 goals against average.
The naming of Alban as the Sher-Wood Hockey Goaltender of the Month comes a day after Chad became part of UHL history by recording his 7th shutout of the season in a 7-0 victory over the Rockford IceHogs at Wings Stadium.
The Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Month Award is the first earned by Alban in his two years in Kalamazoo and just the second earned by a K-Wings goaltender. Former K-Wing Tim Knudsen was the first K-Wing to bring home the award in February 2001.
While the win is Alban's first monthly honor, he is accustomed to winning weekly accolades. Since joining the K-Wings last year, Chad has won four Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Week honors, including two this year.
