ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL Los Angeles Kings and the AHL Manchester Monarchs, were defeated by the Alaska Aces, 2-0, before a crowd of 5,915 Saturday evening at Sullivan Arena.

Neither team was able to get on the board during the first two periods of play, despite eight power plays between the clubs. Both teams headed into the final period looking for their first goals.

Alaska ended the scoreless match during a third period power play, when defenseman Matt Shasby took a shot from the left faceoff circle. Shasby's bid was redirected to the net and past Ontario netminder Kellen Briggs by forward Luke Erickson at 2:01. Forward Josh Soares also registered an assist on the play.

In an attempt to tie the game, Ontario pulled Briggs for the extra attacker with 12 seconds left to play. Right wing Colin Hemingway sent the puck into the empty net at 19:51, off an assist from defenseman Alexander Hellstrom. The Aces claimed the win, making the final score Aces 2, Ontario 0.
