AirHogs lose to Winnipeg

May 18, 2013 - American Association (AA)
Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

The AirHogs coming off an opening day loss were shutout against the Winnipeg Goldeyes Saturday night at QuikTrip Park, 5-0. Unfortunately they seem to leave the bats at home and fall to 0-2 on the season. There were only two bright spots on offense and they come in the form of two singles. Other than those two hits it was all Goldeyes. The winning pitcher was Mark Hardy who went six innings and only allowed one hit from Brian Myrow. The losing pitcher was Josh Strawn who gave up four runs early in the game. He went six innings tonight.

Jakob Cunningham came on in the 7th in relief of Strawn and only gave up one hit. He didn't allow any runs. Brandon Pinckney came up with a single in the top of the 9th to try to start a rally but it was too little, too late. With the single his season batting average is .429.

The Goldeyes and AirHogs will meet for one more game Sunday night at 6:05. The AirHogs will start Jared Mortensen on the mound and Winnipeg will go with Justin Garcia.
