Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Rockford, IL-Milwaukee Admirals netminder Drew MacIntyre stopped 25 shots and the Ads broke a 0-for-26 post-season power-play slump with a pair of power-play goals for their third straight 3-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs Sunday evening.

The win gives Milwaukee a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven West Division Semifinals. The Admirals will try to finish the series with a win in game four on Tuesday night at the Rockford Metro Centre.

Power-play goals by Andreas Thuresson and Ryan Jones sandwiched a Triston Grant tally as Milwaukee built a 3-0. The Thuresson and Jones' tallies broke a post-season power-play slump that covered the first two games of this series and went back to game three of the team's first round match-up with Chicago last season.

Unlike game two-when there were just three penalties called all game-Sunday's game featured a combined 17 infractions and 11 power-plays. Milwaukee finished the game 2-for-7 with a man advantage, while Rockford was 1-for-4.

After a scoreless first period it was a power-play goal that would get the Admirals on the board. Just 36 seconds into the second Danny Groulx cross-checked Ryan Maki into the boards and Thuresson scored his first goal of the playoffs on the ensuing power-play. Robert Dietrich fired a shot from the point that ricocheted off the boards to Thuresson, who gathered the puck and beat Rockford netminder Antti Niemi at 2:07.

The Admirals used a little bit of luck when Grant scored at 6:36 of the second to give them a 2-0 lead. The Ads right winger came streaking into the Rockford zone and fired a shot at Neimi, who gloved the puck at the top of the crease. However, just as soon as it was in his glove, the puck popped out and Grant was able to get to it first and slide it past an out of position Neimi. Kelsey Wilson and Oren Eizenmann collected assists on the tally.

Milwaukee got their second power-play goal of the night and put the game out of reach at 3:08 of the third period on Jones' first goal of the post-season. With Pascal Pelletier in the box on a slashing call, O'Reilly sent a pass to Mike Santorelli on the left side of the net. When a pair of Rockford defensemen collapsed on him, Santorelli chipped the puck over to Jones, who had an open net to put the Ads up 3-0.

Rockford got on the board on a Tyler Mosienko goal at 17:39 of the third.
