Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--After posting an 8-3 home victory in coach Ian Herbers' debut against Abbotsford Tuesday night, Milwaukee (18 Games Played, 11-6-0-1, 23 Points, 2nd Place Midwest Division, 6th Place Western Conference, 13th Place AHL) will begin the month of December with a home-and-home series with the Peoria Rivermen (22 GP, 3rd Place Midwest Division, 8th place Western Conference, 18th place AHL). Faceoff Friday night is set for 7:00 P.M. at the Bradley Center and Saturday night at Carver Arena in Peoria, Illinois (10,129 capacity) at the same starting time.
This will be Milwaukee's third and fourth meetings of the season with their Midwest Division rivals, with the Admirals winning the previous two contests both held at Peoria, including the season opener on October 8th (4-1) and a 2-1 decision on November 5th.
Recently recalled Kyle Wilson (Oakville, Ontario) scored the game winner on a power play at 1:07 of the third period in the teams' previous meeting, while goaltender Jeremy Smith (Dearborn, Michigan) made 31 saves for the win. Former National Hockey League Maurice Richard trophy winner Jonathan Cheechoo scored the Rivermen's only goal, while goaltender Ben Bishop took the loss despite 29 saves.
Friday night's game will be the U.S. Cellular Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears to the Bradley Center, and then deposit them onto the ice after the Admirals' score their first goal. The collected bears will be donated to needy children in the Milwaukee area.
After this weekend Peoria and Milwaukee will meet again on Sunday December 18th at the Bradley Center.
