Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Rosemount, IL-Two days after scoring five goals in game one of the series the Milwaukee Admirals were not able to solve Chicago netminder Peter Mannino and dropped a 3-0 decision to the Wolves at the All-State Arena. Chicago now leads the best-of-seven West Division Semifinals 2-0 over Milwaukee with game 3 set for Saturday night at the Bradley Center at 7:00 pm.
After the two teams failed to score on their first five power-play opportunities, the Wolves got on the board during an interference penalty on Triston Grant. Spencer Machacek carried the puck from the corner and tried to jam it past Mark Dekanich. The Ads netminder made the stop, but the puck lay in the slot where Machacek took another swat and this time the puck deflected off an Admiral stick and past Dekanich.
The second period was uneventful as neither team was able to generate many good scoring chances. The Admirals managed to kill both Chicago power-play tries and the Wolves outshot Milwaukee 7-6.
Johnny Pohl made it 2-0 at 8:06 when he pushed a rebound past Dekanich. After the Wolves won the face off Artus Kulda threw a shot on goal which the Ads goalie stopped. Jason Krog jumped on the rebound but he was denied as well, but Pohl managed to get to the puck and score his first of the playoffs.
Tim Stapleton made it 3-0 at 15:14 when he came down with Nathan Oystrick on a two-on-one and fired a wrister past Dekanich.
Dekanich played well in net for the Admirals, making 28 saves on the night and Former Badger and Hobey Baker Award winner Blake Geoffrion made his Milwaukee debut, but, like his teammates, was not able to find his way on to the scoresheet.
