Rockford IceHogs News Release

Cedar Park, Tex. - The regular season matchup might not have favored the Rockford IceHogs, but the team likes their chances against the Texas Stars in the Calder Cup Playoffs' West Division Semifinals.

The best-of-seven series begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. when Rockford and Texas drop the puck at Cedar Park Center. Tonight's game can be heard on 1330 AM WNTA, 1380 AM WTJK, or in Rockford on Comcast Cable channel-57 beginning with the U.S. Cellular Pregame Show at 7:05 p.m.

Tonight's game can be viewed at Hooters in Rockford, the IceHogs' official road game viewing destination. If you can't make it out to Hooters, the game is available on-line through AHL Live on www.icehogs.com.

Rockford finished the eight game regular season series 2-4-2-0 against the Stars in 2009-10, but did carry a record of 2-1-1-0 at Cedar Park Center, where four potential games could be played in the best-of-seven game series. Rockford won the final regular season meeting at Texas 5-1 one week ago.

The goaltending matchup will be a key for both teams as Corey Crawford will get the nod for Rockford and Brent Krahn for the Stars. Crawford finished the regular campaign 24-16-2 and won his final three games after allowing just three goals.

Despite battling injuries this year, Krahn was among the best in goal in the AHL. The veteran goalie compiled a record of 17-4-0 in just 22 appearances with a 1.83 goals against average and .945 save percentage. He was particularly sharp against Rockford going 4-0-0 with a 0.99 goals against average and a .971 save percentage.

The playoff appearance is Rockford's third straight since joining the American Hockey League and sixth straight dating back to 2005. Overall, in 11 seasons of professional hockey in Rockford, the IceHogs have reached the playoffs eight times.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, April 21 vs. Texas Stars. Game Three of the West Division Semifinals. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The West Division Semi's shift north as the IceHogs and Stars return to Rockford for Game Three of the Calder Cup Playoff's opening round at the MetroCentre.
