SPRINGFIELD, MA - Despite a goal and two assists by Blair Jones, the Norfolk Admirals (1-3-0-0) were unable to hold a third period lead as they fell 4-3 to the Springfield Falcons (4-2-0-0) on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center.

The Admirals dominated the Falcons territorially through the game's opening twenty minutes, outshooting Springfield 14-2 in the first period. Norfolk took a 1-0 lead into the first break when Zbynek Hrdel found the back of the net with 43 seconds left in the period. Blair Jones took the puck behind the net and appeared to be skating back in front to Springfield goaltender Jeff Deslauriers' left side. However, he dropped a pass back to Hrdel at the opposite side of the cage, and Hrdel slipped the puck between Deslauriers' right skate and the post for his first goal of the year at 19:17.

The Falcons tied the game 4:15 into the second period. An Admirals defender lost his stick, leading to a two-on-one break for the Falcons and a Robert Nilsson goal. However, Norfolk struck back just 27 seconds later. Mike Egener had two shots on net in a goalmouth scramble. The second shot crossed the goal line for Egener's first goal as an Admiral at 4:42.

The Falcons stunned the Admirals early in the third period with three goals within a span of under three minutes. Liam Reddox re-directed a Rick Berry shot at 6:09 to knot the score at 2-2. Nilsson scored his second of the night just 28 seconds later for a 3-2 lead at 6:37. Theo Peckham doubled the lead with a power play slapshot from the left point at 9:22.

The Admirals closed the gap to 4-3 just 1:10 after Peckham's goal. Chris Lawrence sent a cross-ice pass from the right corner to Jones at the opposite circle. Jones one-timed it past Deslauriers at 10:32. However, Norfolk could not get the equalizer.

Morgan Cey (21 shots, 17 saves) got the loss in his Norfolk debut. Jeff Deslauriers (29 shots, 26 saves) picked up the victory for the Falcons.

Norfolk was 0-9 on the power play. Springfield was 1-8.
