
Adirondack scores five runs in top of ninth to beat Utica 9-6

Utica was one out away from beating the Trail Blazers 5-4 after trailing them 4-3 late in the game. But the Blue Sox recorded three errors and gave up five runs in the top ninth to put Adirondack back on top 9-5.
The Blue Sox scored one more run in the bottom ninth to only trail by three, but the Trail Blazers held their ground and beat Utica 9-6.
The Blue Sox sit at 10-10, while the Trail Blazers improve to 6-13.
Adirondack took a 1-0 lead in the top first when Bradley Roberto singled, advanced to second off of a fielder's choice from Julio Mercano, moved up to third off of Vinnie Martin's walk, and scored off of another fielder's choice from David Mercano.
The Blue Sox tied the game 1-1 in the bottom first. Utica shortstop Coco Hussien singled . Blue Sox's left fielder Isaiah Torres and catcher Colton Bender walked to load the bases, and second baseman Cole Habig hit a single to bring Hussien home and even the score.
The Trail Blazers retook the lead 2-1 in the top third off of a lead-off homerun from Roberto.
Utica finally got out in front in the bottom fourth. Habig led the inning off with a single. Freshman Brenton Phillips also hit a single and moved up to third off of an error from Adirondack right fielder Matt Rubayo . Habig scored off of Rubayo's error to tie the game 2-2. Blue Sox's first baseman Neiko Ramos later singled to bring Phillips home and give the Blue Sox a 3-2 lead.
Adirondack once again took the lead in the top seventh. Stalman, Roberto, and Julio Mercano all walked to load the bases. Vinnie Martin then hit a single to bring Stalman and Roberto home and give the Trail Blazers a 4-3 lead.
But Utica retook the lead 5-4 in the bottom eighth. With two outs, right fielder Khalyd Cox walked and center fielder Cameron Phelts hit a single to bring Cox home and tie the game 4-4. Hussien then hit a single to bring Phelts home and give Utica a 5-4 lead
Josh Gosweiler was the relief pitcher for the Blue Sox in the top ninth, but he could not seal the deal as he gave up five runs, three hits, walked one, and was credited with the loss. With two outs, Julio Mercano and Martin both singled. Todd Henry was pinch runner for Martin. Mercano and Henry moved up one base off of a wild pitch, and Mercano and Henry reached home plate when David Mercano moved up to first off of an error by Hussien. The Trail Blazers now had a 6-5 lead and continued to add onto the lead in the same inning. Danny Glendon reached first off of another Blue Sox's error, and Isiah Daubon singled to bring David Mercano and Glendon home and make the score 8-5 Adirondack. Daubon scored the Trail Blazers' final run of the inning off of another Utica error. Adirondack led 9-5 heading out of the ninth.
Phillips scored the Blue Sox's sixth run in the bottom ninth off of a sacrifice hit from Luis DeLeon.
Adirondack pitcher Desmond Grimes got the win, striking out one and giving up two hits in one inning of play.
The Blue Sox are on the road tomorrow to take on the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs, but they will return home Wednesday to take on the Watertown Rapids. Wednesday's game is scheduled to start at 6:35 p.m.
