Senator Pam Helming, 1958 Geneva Red Legs Player Harry Panero Visit McDonough Park

GENEVA: On Friday June 22, 2018 the Geneva Red Wings hosted Senator Pam Helming at McDonough Park as she helped celebrate our 60th Anniversary Season. Senator Helming presented Red Wings owner Bob Ohmann a NYS Senate Proclamation regarding the 60th season. She also presented Ohmann with a new NYS Senate Empire Award honoring his work with baseball and support for our local communities.
Also, on that night, 1958 Geneva Red Leg Harry Panero and his family visited McDonough Park. Panero played 2 seasons with Geneva and was an outfielder. The 1958 team was the first team to play on the current field. He presented Ohmann with a plaque pf the 1958 team picture for McDonough Park. In 1958, as a member of the New York-Penn League the Geneva Red legs was named after the new affiliate the Cincinnati Red legs. That affiliation lasted until 1963.
The Geneva Red Wings will continue to celebrate this summer as McDonough Park turns 60 years old. Friday July 6 is Neighborhood Association Movie Night as they present "Angels in the Outfield" as well as Youth Baseball Night at the park as our 60th Anniversary celebration continues.
