DUNEDIN, Fla. - Travis Adams tossed five terrific innings Sunday, but the Dunedin Blue Jays rallied in the ninth inning to beat Fort Myers 3-2 at TD Ballpark.
Adams allowed just one hit and one walk over his five frames. Right-hander Mike Paredes spun three scoreless in relief before turning the ball over to lefty Samuel Perez (0-1).
With Fort Myers (10-5) leading 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Dasan Brown reached first on a close call on a bunt single. After advancing to second, Angel Del Rosario delivered an RBI double down the left field line to tie the game at 2-2. After a walk and a wild pitch put Blue Jays (6-9) at the corners, Adriel Sotolongo pulled a grounder through the left side to give Dunedin their second walk-off win of the series.
Despite the loss, the Mussels still boast the best record in the Florida State League.
The Blue Jays jumped in front early against Adams, scoring on a pair of Del Rosario stolen bases in the first.
Fort Myers battled back in the fourth. Noah Miller walked and stole a pair of bases before Kyler Fedko drove him in with a sacrifice fly.
With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth, Jesus Feliz and Jake Rucker both drew one-out walks. Two batters later, Daniel Ozoria singled to right center to chase home Feliz and give the Mussels a 2-1 lead.
That lead held up until the ninth. The Mussels had several chances to extend the lead and failed to do so, going 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position while stranding 11 runners.
Fort Myers returns to Hammond Stadium to start a six-game series with the Clearwater Threshers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
