Aces upend Dillas

Alexandria, La. - August 13, 2008 - Alexandria Aces All-Star left-hander Chad Linder continues to be the Aces' most consistent starter as he pitches seven strong innings to earn his seventh win as the Aces beat the Amarillo Dillas 7-2 Wednesday at Bringhurst Field. Linder struck out six hitters, but he walked a season-high five batters. The Aces tied the game in the second after Amarillo scored one in the first. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Jose Umbria delivered an RBI single plating Rafael Ozuna to tie the game 1-1. The Aces took the lead in the third. With one out, Selwyn Langaigne walked and scored on a double by Brian Nichols. Umbria hit another RBI single to score Nichols and give the Aces a two-run lead. In the sixth, with the Aces ahead 4-2, they added two more runs with little effort. Bryan Sabatella led off the inning by being hit by a pitch and Luis Guance and Selwyn Langaigne walked to load the bases. After Ozuna struck out, reliever Matt Smith threw two-straight wild pitches allowing Sabatella and Guance to score. The Aces and Dillas will finish their series Thursday as Ramon Portillo goes for the Aces against Marcos Castillo. Game time is 7:05.
