Broncos Snap 4 Game Losing Streak With Win Over Edinburg

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos got a 4 rbi night from Arnoldo Ponce as they beat the Edinburg Coyotes by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday night at Veterans Field. The Broncos continue at home for their final series at Veterans Field for the 2008 season as they face they Coyotes on Thursday in the finale of a 3 game series. The Broncos would grab the early lead in the 1st inning. With 1 out Anthony Bennett singled and then went to 2nd on a walk to Matt Imwalle. Then with 2 away, Dwayne White walked to load the bases. Arnoldo Ponce then followed with a 2 run single scoring both Bennett and Imwalle and making the score 2-0.

The Coyotes got their first run in the 2nd inning. Argelis Nunez hit a solo home run, his 13th of the season. That would make the score 2-1.

The Broncos would add on to their lead in the 3rd inning. Ivan Reyes led off by reaching on a error by Mayobanex Santana and then stole 2nd base. Reyes would then score on a 2 run home by Arnoldo Ponce, his 8th of the season. That would give the Broncos on a 4-1 lead.

The Coyotes would score again in the 5th inning. With 1 out Amado German hit a solo home run, his 4th of the season. That cut the Broncos lead in half to 4-2.

Mickey Callaway would leave the game for the Broncos after 5 innings of work in line for the victory. He gave up 2 runs, on 4 hits, he walked 1, and struck out 2. Dan Sausville came into the game to pitch the 6th inning.

Edinburg would cut the Broncos lead to 1 in the 7th inning, when Amado German hit his 2nd solo home run of the game, his 5th of the season. The score was now 4-3 in favor of the Broncos.

Rusty Jones would keep the Coyotes off the scoreboard in the 8th inning, while the Broncos offense could not add to their lead. Laredo led by a run heading into the 9th with David Watkins coming in and looking for the save.

Watkins would have to deal with the tying run on 2nd base with 2 away, but got the 3 outs as the Broncos won by a score of 4-3.

The Broncos scored 4 runs on 7 hits and committed 1 errors, while the Coyotes scored 3 runs on 9 hits and committed 1 error.

The Broncos improve 38-48 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Thursday when the play their final home series in Laredo for the 2008 season as they play the Coyotes in game 3 of a 3 game set.
