Aces, Umbria come up big in win over Dillas

Alexandria, La. - July 30, 2008 - Alexandria Aces first baseman Jose Umbria hit a home run for the first time since April 21, 2004 in Wednesday night's 10-4 win over the Amarillo Dillas at Bringhurst Field. With the Aces leading 4-0 in the third and two outs, Umbria connected on a 1-1 pitch that sailed over the left-field wall for a solo home run. The Aces added four more runs in the fourth on a couple of homers.

Luis Guance hit a two-run homer, his tenth of the year to pu the Aces ahead 7-0. Alexandria made it 9-0 when Rafael Ozuna also hit a two-run homer, his eighth of the year. Ozuna, a switch-hitter hit from the left side against left-handed starter Micah Posey (10-2) and went 2-3 with the homer and a single. Aces starter Ramon Portillo (7-3) earned his seventh win going seven innings and giving up three runs and tying a season-high with nine strikeouts.

The Aces and Dillas will continue their series Thursday as Alejandro Martinez for the Aces against the Amarillo's Ron Lowe. Game time is 7:05.
