Broncos Bats Get Back On Track In Win Over Harlingen

Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos scored in 5 of the 9 innings as they beat the Harlingen WhiteWings by a score of 7-5 on Tuesday night in Harlingen. The Broncos continue of their short 3 game trip with the middle game of a 3 game series with the WhiteWings on Thursday night. For more information you can call (956)-723-BASE (2273).

The Broncos would grab the lead in the 2nd inning. Dwayne White led off with a single and then stole 2nd base. Arnoldo Ponce then advanced White to 3rd on a groundout. Then with 2 outs, Ben Tinius singled in White to give Laredo the 1-0 lead.

The Broncos would add on a run in the 3rd. Sean Gamble led off with a double and then went to 3rd when Ivan Reyes reached base on an error by the shortstop. Luany Sanchez then reached on a fielder's choice with Reyes out at 2nd. Gamble would score on the play to make the score 2-0.

The WhiteWings would get on the scoreboard in their half of the 3rd. Carl Johnson led off with a single and went to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by David Fowler. After a groundout moved him to 3rd Johnson would score on a 2 run home run by Amadeo Zazueta, his 3rd of the season. That would tie the game at 2.

The Broncos would get the lead back in the 4th inning. Matt Imwalle would lead off the inning with a solo home run, his 2nd of the season. Then with 2 outs Sean Gambled singled and would then score on a 2 run home run by Ivan Reyes, his 11th of the season. That made the score 5-2 in favor of Laredo.

Laredo would score for the 4th straight inning in the 5th. With 2 outs, Arnoldo Ponce singled and then scored on a triple by Matt Imwalle, which made the score 6-2.

The WhiteWings would make the game close in their half of the 5th. With one out Carl Johnson doubled. That was followed by a walk to David Fowler. Then with 2 outs Amadeo Zazueta doubled scoring Johnson and moving Fowler to 3rd. David Cardona then reached on a fielding error by Arnoldo Ponce which allowed Fowler to score and Zazueta to go to 3rd. Ryan Fox would then double in Zazueta and make the score 6-5.

The Broncos would tack on another run in the 7th. Dwayne White walked to start off the inning and then stole 2nd base. With 1 away, Matt Imwalle got his 3rd rbi of the night with a double scoring White and making the score 7-5.

That would remain the score all to the 9th inning as Andy Schon went out looking for his 3rd complete game of the season. And he would pitch a scoreless inning as the Broncos picked up the 7-5 victory.

Schon went all 9 innings giving up 5 runs, 3 of which were earned on 7 hits. He walked 2 batters and struck out 6, as he picked up his league leading 3rd complete game.

The Broncos scored 7 runs on 11 hits and committed 1 error, while the WhiteWings scored 5 runs on 7 hits and committed 2 errors.

The Broncos now improve to 34-39 on the season. The Broncos will be back in action on Thursday when they play game 2 of a 3 game series against the Harlingen WhiteWings in Harlingen at 7:05.
