Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Reno's longest winning streak of the season came to an end on Thursday night, as the Aces suffered a 3-2 loss to the Las Vegas 51's at Aces Ballpark.
The Aces entered the All-Star break riding a 6-game winning streak. The last time Reno won seven straight was June 3-10 of last season.
Chris Owings went 3-for-4 on the night, and became the first Aces player this season to have two triples in a game. He singled to center field in the eighth to record his 150th hit of the season, in just 96 games played.
Owings put Reno on the board in the first, coming around to score on a Brad Snyder sacrifice fly. Back-to-back doubles by Josh Wilson and Ed Easley in the seventh plated another run for the Aces.
Reno threatened to tie the game in the ninth, as Wilson reached on a walk, then advanced to second on a passed ball with only one out. Taylor Harbin reached base on a fielding error by pitcher Rob Carson, putting runners at the corners before pinch hitter Tuffy Gosewisch popped out to end the game.
Aces starter Charles Brewer was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs on 10 hits through 6.2 innings. He struck out four and walked two. Three Reno relievers combined to throw 2.1 shutout frames to end the game, allowing just one hit.
The series continues on Friday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Nate Adcock (5-4, 7.24 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the 51's will counter with RHP Matt Fox (3-3, 4.75 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and fans can enjoy Saint Mary's Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4.
Tickets are on sale for Friday's game, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
