Salt Lake Bees News Release

All nine members of the Reno starting lineup had at least one hit, as the Aces downed the Salt Lake Bees 10-7 on Sunday afternoon. Tommy Field had given the Bees a 1-0 lead in the first, but Reno came back with six runs in the second with all, but one, of the runs unearned. Salt Lake bounced back with four runs in the second to pull back to within one at 6-5 on a two-run double by Chance Ross and a two-run triple by Matt Long. After the Aces took a 7-5 lead in the fourth, they would regain their five-run lead with a three-run homer by Alfredo Marte in the fifth. Salt Lake pulled to within three in the sixth on a two-run triple by Ross, but that would be as close as they would get, as Reno has won the first three games of the series.

Starter Billy Buckner (7-4) took the loss for the Bees, as he went just one and two-third innings and allowed six runs, one earned, on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. Ross led the Bees with two hits and four runs batted in, while Long added two hits and two RBI. Andy Marte singled in the second inning and Field singled in the first, as both player extend their current hitting streaks to nine games.

"What I like is that regardless of how bad things got, our guys competed," said Bees Manager Keith Johnson. "We competed for nine innings, and that's what I care about right now."
