Las Vegas Aces News Release

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Aces signed forward Joyner Holmes today, waiving forward Emma Cannon to make room for her on the roster.

The 6-3 Holmes was originally selected by Seattle in the second round of the 2020 WNBA Draft, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was waived before the start of training camp. She signed with the New York Liberty in late June of last year, and went on to play in 19 games in the Wubble where she averaged 2.9 points and 2.7 rebounds. The Texas grad played in the Liberty's season opener this year, but was released shortly thereafter.

While with the Longhorns, Holmes was a three-time All-Big 12 honoree who averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in her four-year career.

Cannon is a three-year WNBA veteran who signed with the Aces as a free agent late in the 2020 season. She played in one regular season game for the team, but saw action in six postseason games, where she averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds while making 50.0 percent of her shots. This year, the 6-2 Cannon played in three of Las Vegas' six games, averaging 2.0 points and 1.7 rebounds.
