Aberdeen Drops Game Two to Hudson Valley

ABERDEEN, M.D. - After a nearly perfect Opening Night, the Aberdeen IronBirds dropped the two game series finale to the Hudson Valley Renegades with a 6-1 loss at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium. A four run ninth sealed the deal for Hudson Valley.

K.V COMES HOME: Just as he did Friday night, K.V. Edwards reached base safely as the first batter of the game. He walked, stole second and advanced to third on a sacrifice fly. Edwards came home on a two out RBI single from Jordyn Muffley to make it 1-0 Renegades after one.

'BIRD BATS MUTED: Aberdeen could not find the offesne against Hudson Valley's starter Zack Trageton. He went five scoreless innings, allowed two hits and struckout four.

ROBERTS ROCKS: Cody Roberts continued his rehab assignment with another stellar performance. He went 2-for-3 with a walk against some of Hudson Valley's best pitchers.

FIRST TIMES THE CHARM: Two IronBirds grabbed their first professional hits on Saturday night. In the third inning, Johnny Rizer poked a single into centerfield on the first pitch he saw in pro baseball. Toby Welk followed suit with a single to center in the 6th.

LATE GAME TOUGH BREAKS: Edwards extended the lead for the Renegades in the 7th with a triple to right center field that scored a runner from first. It was 2-0 Renegades heading into the 9th.

Ten Hudson Valley batters would see the dish in that inning. It started with a single from Cristhian Pedroza, who stole a bag and came around on two wild pitches. Jason Montville would walk two batters before giving up a 2 RBI single to Muffley that made it 5-0. Hudson Valley polished off the offense with a rope from Carlos Vargas that put him at second and scored Muffley.

FERGUSON BARRELS ONE: Jaylen Ferguson gave Aberdeen some life in the bottom of the ninth. He took the first pitch he saw and lined it over the left field wall into the Visitors dugout.

All five batters in the 9th hit balls hard into the outfield, but the 'Birds were shut down with a 6-1 loss.

UP NEXT: Sunday the IronBirds play a 4 o'clock game at MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. It will be the first matchup of the year with the Brooklyn Cyclones and part of another two game set.
