ABA's King County Royals sign first four players

SEATTLE - The King County Royals, an expansion team in the American Basketball Association, have announced the signing of the team's first four players for their inaugural season. Joining the team are guards Randy Green, Jamaal Miller and Darnell Taylor, and forward Wale Adeyemi. Making the announcement was Royals general manager and head coach Rick Turner.

Green, a 6'4" guard from Rainier Beach High School, played four seasons at Washington State. As a Cougar, Green averaged 4.4 points per game on 37 percent field goal shooting, with a career high of 22 points coming on 1/22/03 against Oregon State. In high school, Green had the distinction of reaching the 3-A state tournament all four years he played, winning the championship his freshman year.

Miller, a 6''1" guard from Garfield High School, starred for two seasons at Green River Community College where he averaged 25.5 points per game and 8.3 assists per game. Miller was named an all-Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges first team selection his sophomore year at Green River. Most recently, Miller played in the ABA last season with the Tacoma Navigators, averaging 24 points and eight assists per game, including a 27-point performance on Jan. 26 against the Bellingham Slam.

Taylor, a 5'9" guard from East Palo Alto, played two seasons at Western Washington. In his two years at a Viking, Taylor averaged 11.1 points per game on 51.6 percent field goal shooting and 47.7 percent three point shooting. During his senior season, Taylor was a member of the Western Washington squad that went 21-6 and narrowly missed a berth at the NCAA Division-II national tournament.

Wale Adeyemi, a 6'9" forward from Garfield High School, played collegiately at New Mexico Highlands. At NMHU, Adeyemi averaged 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game on 54.2 percent shooing from the floor. In two seasons, Adeyemi also amassed 38 blocks.
