Noise sign pair of swing players to solidify team

November 7, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Knoxville Noise News Release

With the season just a few days away, the Noise have added another dynamic duo to their roster as they set their sights on a promising 2006-2007 campaign. Ricky Price and Bobby Brown are the latest additions to the Noise roster. Price, a 6-6 combo guard from Duke University, and Brown, a 6-7 swingman from Kennesaw State, will give the Noise some valuable backcourt options this coming season and promise to present some match-up problems for opposing teams.

Ricky Price was a four year member of the Duke basketball team that reached the Elite 8 in 1998 before falling to eventual National Champion Kentucky. During his years at Duke, Price was able to play under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski, who helped shape Ricky into a fundamentally sound player and proven winner. While at Duke, Price teamed up with future NBA players Elton Brand and Shane Battier, as well as last years ABA Most Valuable Player Chris Carrawell. A great one-on-one scorer who has the range to pull up from behind the 3-point line, Price was an All-ACC selection in 1996 and scored over 1,000 points during his career with the Blue Devils.

After his playing days were over at Duke, Ricky went on to play professionally with numerous teams across the country. From 1998-2003, Price played in the Long Beach Summer Pro League with numerous NBA players, where he averaged between 16 and 23 points per game each year. Price has also participated in NBA summer leagues with the Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, and Charlotte Bobcats. During 2003-2004, Price was signed to play with the EA Sports All-Stars, traveling around the country playing major college teams, where he averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game. Price also has experience in overseas leagues, playing with teams in Slovenia, Hungary, Holland, France, Venezuela, Finland, and the Philippines, averaging anywhere from 14 to 22 points per game. In 2005 Price played with the UAG Mexico Team, averaging 21 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Bobby Brown is a 2003 graduate of Kennesaw State in Georgia. After completing his playing days at Kennesaw, Brown found a home in the World Basketball Association. In 2005, Brown played with the Southern Crescent Lightning, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors from the league. In 2006, Brown played with the Cartersville Warriors of the WBA, where he teamed up with Noise teammate Anthony Slater in leading the Warriors to the 2006 championship game. Like in 2005, Brown was named Defensive Player of the year in the WBA again. In 2006, ProBasketballNews.com ranked Brown in the Top 20 Players in Minor League Professional Basketball.

Noise Head Coach Gerald Oliver is excited about the prospects of having these two swingmen on his team: "Bobby brings that tough defense that is needed for this team to win, and Ricky Price brings another veteran leader to the team."

You can see Ricky Price, Bobby Brown, and the rest of the Knoxville Noise take the court for their home opener on Saturday, November 11th as they take on the Tennessee Mud Frogs. For more information visit the Noise website at www.knoxvillenoise.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
