Aaron Tullo Does It Again

EDINBURG- Righthander Aaron Tullo continued his mastery of the Rio Grande Valley by throwing seven shutout innings and to one-hit the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings en route to a 3-0 Edinburg victory at Edinburg Baseball Stadium Sunday night.

Tullo (6-4), allowed a first inning single to shortstop Bryan Marquez and then only two walks. The 24-year-old righthander struck out seven batters and has now thrown 18 straight shutout innings against the WhiteWings (51-43). He was relieved by Tetsuya Iwasaki, who retired the side in order in the eighth and Paul Koss,who saved his ninth game of the year by striking out all three batters he faced.

Offensively, Derek Perren collected three hits and Joe Weik hit two sacrifice flies off Clint Bowker (1-4), who allowed two earned runs in seven innings.

The WhiteWings announced the suspension of shortstop Leugim Barroso before the game and reinstated Jhonaldo Pozo, who caught the first seven innings of the game and retired the Roadrunners (59-36) in order in his first professional appearance as a pitcher in the eighth.

The two teams meet for the regular season finale at Harlingen Field Monday night at 7:05 p.m. for Fan Appriciation Day, where ladies will get in free, the WhiteWings' jerseys will be auctioned off, and several drink specials will be offered. A best-of-three round playoff series will follow on Tuesday, with the WhiteWings hosting the first game.
