Colts Get Pitcher Phillips Back

September 2, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
San Angelo Colts News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- The Colts announced Sunday they have re-acquired relief pitcher David Phillips from the Abilene Prairie Dogs, and placed outfielder Jamar Walton on the Inactive List.

Phillips was traded to Abilene on August 20 in exchange for future considerations. The lefty's return to San Angelo completes the transaction.

Phillips is 1-2 with a 6.63 earned-run average in 25 relief appearances between the Colts and Prairie Dogs this season. At the plate, the former outfielder has a .379 average in eight games.

The Colts brought Phillips back due to an elbow injury sustained by Walton on August 31 against the Fort Worth Cats. Walton will end the regular season on the Inactive List after hitting .296 with two home runs and 43 RBIs in 82 games. Walton is also second on the team with 23 doubles.

On Saturday, the Colts had acquired outfielder Braden Embry from the Prairie Dogs in exchange for a player to be named later. However, after just one at-bat for San Angelo, Embry injured his wrist sliding back into second base. Embry was returned to Abilene Sunday morning.

The Colts play a doubleheader against the Cats tonight at LaGrave Field. They will play two seven-inning games, beginning at 5:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
