Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Rapids Kernels first baseman Aaron Sabato has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week after leading the circuit in average and on-base percentage. The weekly award is the first of Sabato's professional career.
Sabato went 8-for-16 (.500) and reached base at a .619 clip, posting the second-highest OPS in the League at 1.432. The Twins' No. 15 prospect drove in five runs, smacked two doubles and belted a home run while leading Cedar Rapids to a series win in Lansing. He had a pair of three-hit games and extended his hitting streak to eight games, reaching base in each of the five games he played.
