DAYTON, OH - In the last game of the series the Cubs once again took an early lead but a crooked number put up by the Dayton offense in the third was the difference in South Bend's fourth loss in a row, their longest skid of the season.

Jordan Nwogu led of the game with a walk, promptly stole second, and scored the first run of the game on a Pete Crow-Armstrong single.

Meanwhile on the hill Jordan Wicks was stellar in his first two innings, retiring all six batters and punching out three. But in the third inning he allowed four weakly hit singles that combined with three South Bend throwing errors led to a five-run inning for the home team.

The Cubs chipped away with a solo-shot out to straight away center in the fourth from Crow-Armstrong, his first homer at the high-A level. His towering shot off the top of the batter's eye traveled 439 feet.

Yohendrick Pinango launched his third homer of the series to start the seventh inning, his first opposite field blast of the season, making it just a 5-3 deficit.

In the seventh Sheldon Reed allowed a run for the first time this season on a wild pitch that plated Garrett Wolforth. Jeremiah Estrada came on for the eighth inning and allowed two unearned runs on a two-out triple from Wolforth off the top of the wall in the left field corner. The runs were unearned because Jonathan Sierra started the inning with an error on a sharp grounder at first base. That made it 8-3 and that would be the final.

The four errors for the South Bend Cubs were tied for the most they've had in a game this season.

The Cubs are back home for six games starting Tuesday night at 7:05 ET vs Cedar Rapids.
