WINDSOR, Colo. - Northern Colorado Youth Hockey (NCYH) announced today that former Eagles defenseman-turned ice-side reporter, Aaron Grosul, has been appointed as the youth organization's Hockey Director. The Edmonton, Alberta native was a part of both of the Eagles' championship seasons and brings 24 years of hockey experience to his new position.
"Aaron brings tremendous strengths to our program", said Christina Cooley, NCYH President. "His passion for hockey and ability to communicate his experience and knowledge to coaches, parents and youth athletes is a great asset. He is a great addition to NCYH."
Grosul captained the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, men's hockey team and was named to the Second Team All CCHA (Central Collegiate Hockey Association) in 2001-02. While attending the University of Alaska, Grosul earned All-Academic honors three times and was named the Undergraduate of the Year for the Communications Department in 2002.
In terms of youth hockey, Grosul has served as the Assistant Director of ALCAN Hockey Schools in Fairbanks, Alaska. During his tenure at ALCAN, he was responsible for managing instructors and evaluating player progress. He also successfully organized the youth hockey programs for the Fairbanks Youth Hockey Association.
In his new role, Grosul will be assigned the tasks of administering all NCYH Hockey Programs including Travel, In-House and Under-8, representing NCYH at all affiliate and league meetings, and appropriately placing and developing coaches for the teams of NCYH.
"The Jr. Eagles are part of the family of the Colorado Eagles. I understand what the Colorado Eagles organization, coaching staff and players stand for and I will bring that attitude and philosophy with me to NCYH," said Grosul. "NCYH has a great foundation and it is time that we build upon it. I believe that with this foundation and the relationship with the Colorado Eagles, NCYH will grow into one of the strongest youth hockey programs in Colorado and I have been given the chance to lead the way."
