Halifax Mooseheads News Release

Another day, another win for the Halifax Mooseheads who used a Josh Lawrence hat trick and 23 saves from Mathis Rousseau to power their way to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

It's the 11th consecutive victory for the streaking Moose while the unbeaten in regulation streak was pushed to 21 games in front of a joyous group of 7,809 fans at Scotiabank Centre. Lawrence's tallies were his 30th, 31st and 32nd of the season to cap off a five-point weekend for the overage forward.

Jordan Dumais and Mathieu Cataford both chipped in with a pair of assists each in a contest that stayed a one-goal hockey game until the final period of play when the Herd were able to pull away from their opponent. Titan goalie Sergei Litvinov had a terrific effort between the pipes by stopping 34 of the 37 shots he faced and helped to keep his team in the game despite being heavily outshot.

Lawrence scored the opening goal of the game for the second straight day when he used his speed to fly around the net and tucked in a wraparound goal 8:54 into the matchup of Maritimes Division rivals. It was all Litvinov for the next period and a half until Doucet broke the stalemate with a top shelf shot 4:33 into the third stanza. Lawrence had the building buzzing with his second of the game from the side of the net just 37 seconds later for a 3-0 advantage. Zach L'Heureux carried the puck behind the net before feeding it out in front to Lawrence who was slapping his stick calling for the pass. He capped off the hat trick and sealed the victory with a long distance shot into the empty net at 17:52 with Litvinov on the bench in favour of the extra attacker.

The Mooseheads also welcomed the Sackville Flyers onto the ice in the pregame in their Junior Mooseheads jerseys in a special send-off celebration for the team who will represent the Herd in February's Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament.

Halifax will take the winning streak on the road for back-to-back games in Charlottetown Thursday and Friday before returning to Scotiabank Centre ice on Sunday afternoon against the Rimouski Oceanic. Tickets on sale now at TicketAtlantic.com
