A Letter to the Fans from Owner Maribeth Hayes

Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

I was so excited to be able to make another trip to Port Huron for last weekend's home-and-home series with the Michigan Warriors. Although we fell just short of a weekend sweep, it was an overwhelmingly positive experience, and I cannot wait to get back to McMorran Arena for more Fighting Falcons home games.

I'd like to thank Larry Smith, Vice President and General Manager of our radio partners at Radio First for taking time out of his busy schedule to have breakfast with Coach Gershon and I Friday morning following our appearance on Paul Miller's radio show. Radio First's support has been instrumental in our success at this point in the season.

We had a great time at City Rec's Halloween Stroll at Sanborn Park on Saturday morning. Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, and I loved seeing the excitement of the area's children at a great event. We're proud to volunteer at many City Rec events throughout the season, but this was surely my favorite so far.

The tailgate party before Sunday's game gave me the opportunity to meet more of our wonderful billet families, as well as the families of many of our great young players. The enthusiasm shown by all who attended on that very chilly afternoon was very inspirational, and a wonderful reminder of the kind of lifelong friendships this team has formed over the years.

Karen Newman's performance of the national anthem was one of the best I've ever seen. She was a true professional, and we were lucky to have her come to our game.

Handing out Fighting Falcons mini-sticks to children at the door was so much fun! It was great seeing the kids playing with the sticks throughout the game, and as our attendance numbers continue to grow, I know that we will be able to do more and more fun giveaway items like that.

Following Sunday afternoon's game, I had the opportunity to meet with a large group of our off-ice officials. If not for the work these men and women do behind the scenes during our home game, we would not be able to confidently supply statistics to college scouts and fans. Our players know that they will receive credit for every goal, assist and save, and it is because we have the most professional group of off-ice officials in the NAHL.

I'd like to thank everyone on McMorran Arena's staff for all their hard work. From the box office to the concession stands to the Zamboni room, this group allows us to offer family-friendly entertainment throughout the season.

Steve and Emily Goudy worked tirelessly to raise money for breast cancer awareness and treatment throughout St. Clair County through their jersey auction and calendar sales. I'm so proud of our fans for helping us donate $500 through our 50/50 raffles during the month of October. Their on-ice photo with breast cancer survivors was a very touching moment, and yet another reminder that Fighting Falcons home games can be about so much more than what happens between whistles.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank our game day staff for everything they do to make Sunday's game such a great event. Their hard work is just as important as the work our players put in on the ice as we strive to give the Blue Water Area a great hockey experience at McMorran Arena. There is no doubt in my mind that our fans are the most dedicated in the NAHL, and as we continue to focus on family-friendly entertainment, I know that our fanbase will grow with us.

I cannot wait to make another trip to Port Huron to cheer on our first-place Fighting Falcons!

Sincerely,

Maribeth Hayes
