Another Solid Weekend For Bulls' Alumni

AMARILLO, TX - It was another solid weekend for Amarillo Bulls Alumni in NCAA action as several players collected their first points, while another had a great game despite not gaining any.

Forward Hampus Gustafsson netted his first goal of the season for Merrimack in their 4-2 win over Army. The game featured five former Bulls Alumni going against one another. Hampus Gustafsson and his brother John faced Luke Jenkins, Joe Kozlak, and Clint Carlisle. Jenkins notched an assist on Army's first goal.

In Columbus, Ohio Bulls' Alumni figured in Robert Morris' first two goals. Greg Gibson scored in the first 50 seconds of the contest, while John Rey, who was playing forward during that game, notched an assist via the power play. In the end the Ohio State Buckeyes defeated the Colonials 5-3.

American International played just their second game of the season over the weekend and defeated Sacred Heart 4-1. Defenseman Brandon Lubin scored for American just 39 seconds into the second period.

Canisius College was busy up in the State of Colorado with games against the University of Denver and Air Force. Cody Freeman tallied for the Golden Griffins in a 3-2 loss to Air Force on Friday night. The following night, Geoff Fortman suited up for his debut in NCAA play and was plus two as Canisius College dumped Denver 4-1.

TJ Sarcona collected his second point of the season as Niagara University was beaten 7-4 by Air Force on Sunday.

Former Amarillo Bull Ricky DeRosa also had his second point, an assist, in Penn State's 5-2 loss to Vermont.

In action upcoming this weekend Tyler Deresky and Bentley face former Bulls at Merrimack and Army, while Canisius College and Robert Morris are among other clubs seeing play.

It's a big weekend of Hockey at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center as the Bulls host the Topeka RoadRunners on Friday and Saturday at 7 pm. On Friday at 7 pm it's United Way night, as Bulls fans can help support another terrific organization. The first 500 fans will receive magnet schedule.

When the two teams hook up on Saturday at 7 o'clock, it's Panhandle Spirit Night with area residents receiving discounted tickets. Every ticket purchased is entered into a draw to win two getaway packages from The Big Texan. The first 500 fans receive a 'Pucky T-shirt' courtesy of Wonderland and there will also be $1 hotdogs.
