Colorado Rapids News Release
The Octagonal continues and the U.S. Men's National Team is back in action this week as play resumes for Concacaf World Cup Qualifying.ÃÂ
With their first three games behind them, the USMNT hopes to collect nine points this window.ÃÂ
Among the squad once again is Rapids standout midfielder Kellyn Acosta - a constant for the USMNT in 2021.ÃÂ
Take a look behind just a few of the numbers that make Acosta's career thus far with the USMNT so impressive.
2 - Acosta was one of only two players to be included on both the Nations League and Gold Cup rosters. He played the full 120 minutes in both final wins.ÃÂ
2 & 3 - During his time with the USMNT, Acosta has scored two goals. He scored his first senior international goal in a 2-1 friendly win over Ghana in July 2017. His second goal came in 2018 in a friendly versus Colombia. In addition to his two goals, Acosta has three assists.
16 - Acosta's 16 caps so far in 2021 are the most since Michael Bradley played in 17 matches for the USMNT in 2016. He is the only player to play in all 16 matches for USMNT in 2021 so far.
17 - Kellyn Acosta has appeared in 17 straight USMNT matches, the most consecutive matches by a USMNT player since Jeff Agoos (2001-02) and Landon Donovan (2001-02). Acosta's streak dates back to his appearance in the 6-0 win against El Salvador on Dec. 9, 2020, in Fort Lauderdale.
23 - The number Acosta wears on the pitch for the USMNT and for the Rapids.
40 - Throughout his senior national team career, Acosta has appeared in a total of 40 USMNT matches.
