San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---With several individual and team goals still at stake, the Colts would get a big win in game one of the last series of the regular season on Thursday night. In his final tune up start before the playoffs begin on Monday, Colts right Chandler Barnard would pitch a dandy. The Colts backed him with timely hitting and won game one 6-1.

It would begin as a pitchers duel between starter Chandler Barnard (12-2, 3.25) and Toro Trevino (4-7, 5.62), as they both held each other scoreless through the first three. The Roadrunners scored first in the bottom of the fourth getting an RBI single from Gabe Memmert, to make it 1-0 Edinburg. The Colts answered quickly with two in the top of the fifth on a clutch two out single by C.J. Beatty and an error, as San Angelo took their first lead at 2-1.

It remained that way until the ninth as Trevino went deep into the game and the Colts bullpen of Kyle Boggio, Chace Vacek and Jon Huizinga threw three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, did not walk a batter and struck out six. It was in the ninth where the Colts put the game away when they scored four times on an RBI single by Clay Calfee, a sac fly by Matt Redding and an RBI double by Beau Riportella that drove in two, as the Colts scored four to go on to win 6-1. With the win the Colts remain one game in front of the WhiteWings with three to play.

Chandler Barnard went five innings picking up his league leading 12th win of the season, allowing one run on three hits for San Angelo. While Toro Trevino put forth a valiant effort going seven innings, allowing four hits and one earned run in the loss. On Friday the Colts send out righty Brian Henschel (7-7, 5.37) against fellow righty Ryan Falcon (7-3, 5.25) for Edinburg. Listen to all the action on Friday with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. on 1260 AM KKSA.
