Soo Greyhounds News Release
The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club will play its final two games in the month of October this weekend at home and both feature special theme events.
On Friday, October 28th the Hounds host the Plymouth Whalers on a night deemed as '93 MEMORIES, presented by Muio's Restaurant.
The club will remember the most memorable and historic night to-date in their 40 years in the Ontario Hockey League the 1993 Memorial Cup Championship.
May 23rd, 1993 will always be remembered for when the final buzzer went at the Memorial Gardens, the crowd erupted and the Hounds defeated the Peterborough Petes 4-2 to win the Memorial Cup.
Prior to Friday's game the Hounds will be honouring that Championship team with a special highlight video and ceremonial face-off, while four members of the 1993 team have confirmed attendance: Brad Baber, Aaron Gavey, Mark Matier and Jeff Toms.
Opening face-off is set for 7:35 p.m.
Then on Saturday it's all about the little ghosts and goblins as the team hosts a "Best Dressed Halloween Costume Contest" for the kids. The night is brought to you by the Sault Insurance Brokers Association as the Hounds host the Guelph Storm (7:35 p.m.).
Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to the game and sign up for the contest at the Soo Greyhounds marketing table behind section 118.
Tickets for both games are still available by stopping by the Essar Centre Box Office (Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), online at www.essarcentre.ca or by phone at 1.866.775.9422
This weekend is the last chance to see the Hounds before they head out on the road for 6 straight games. We hope to see you rinkside all part of "The Rising".
