Raptors 905 (0-6), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors fell to the Westchester Knicks (4-1) 125-101 Monday evening. The 905 were led by Mouhamadou Gueye's 17 points, nine rebounds, and six blocks while the Knicks were paced by a career-high 37 points and 10 rebounds from Jacob Toppin.
The ball game began with a 2-9 Knicks run before nine unanswered 905 points tied the clubs up. The two teams continued to trade baskets back-and-forth throughout the first quarter before Westchester took a one-point lead going into the second. Between strong offense and a stifling defense, the Knicks outscored the 905 41-14 in the frame, forcing the visitors into 20 first-half turnovers.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰Down as many as 39 points in the third, the 905 fought back in the third but were unable to diminish the lead going into the final frame. The 905 attempted to build off their momentum, outscoring the home side 30-21 in the quarter, but the Knicks lead proved to be insurmountable as the 905 closed out the road trip with their sixth straight loss.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰Raptors 905 saw complementary scoring from Kevin Obanor who contributed a career-high 20 points and eight rebounds, shooting an effective 73% from the field. Isaiah Roby added 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks to the stat sheet.
‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰ ‰The 905 return home for a two-game series against the Capital City Go-Go beginning Saturday, tip-off slated for 2:00 pm. The Knicks continue their homestand, hosting the Long Island Nets, Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
