Barrie Colts News Release
Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts today announced that their 10th Anniversary book will officially go on sale beginning November 11, 2004 in the Coltsport Store located at the Barrie Molson Centre.
This 80-page historical book titled "Riding High- A Decade of Colts Hockey", was written by the current Sports Editor of the Barrie Examiner, Gene Pereira. Printed in a full colour hard cover format, the book will be available for $20.00 plus applicable taxes. The content provides a detailed historical look back at each and every season of Colts hockey, along with facts on how the Colts made the progression from a Provincial Junior B Champion to an expansion franchise into the Ontario Hockey League. The book will contain interviews with past players, coaches, and personnel that have been key contributors to the organization throughout its existence. It will also highlight past team and individual accomplishments, as each chapter will focus on a separate season of Barrie Colts hockey.
"In their history the Colts organization and its players have engrained themselves into the Barrie community." stated the author, Gene Pereira. "When writing it, I wanted to maintain this theme, and highlight it with recollections, facts, detailed stories, and key interviews that have been archived over the past decade." "As a reporter covering the team since they entered the Ontario Hockey League, I was really excited about the opportunity to write the book, and had a lot of fun putting it together, especially getting a chance to talk to some of the former players who called Barrie home during their junior hockey careers."
The Coltsport Store is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and all Thursday and Saturday game-nights.
