Barrie Colts News Release
My first priority since day one as the new president of the Barrie Colts has been to make your Colts experience that much more enjoyable. It's little things like adding the traffic police after the game to get you all home a few minutes earlier or turning up the heat 4 degrees within the building to make us all more comfortable. Other small changes were to add more hawkers to bring food and drinks to our patrons so that the concourse traffic congestion might ease up. I'm also currently working on improving the sound system so that the sound levels for music are just right and the announcements can be heard more clearly.
Along the same lines you will be happy to hear that we are in the midst of installing large overhead video screens throughout the Molson Centre and within the arena bowl. This will be the first system of this kind within North America and we the Barrie Colts have volunteered to be the guinea pigs, so to speak, for this new technology. We expect it to be operating in time for our Thursday November 11th game against Sudbury.
The intent of this video system is to show a combination of the Rogers television feed as well as paid advertising and other entertaining videos. This should allow us all to see the replays of goals and highlights that we have grown accustomed to in the NHL arenas. Please be aware that we have allowed this system to go in on a trial basis as we were unable to view a similar video system anywhere else because of its newness. We hope as you do that these video screens are every bit as good as the company that installed it said they would be.
As you might already know an installation like this one will be quite expensive. We will need the support of corporate advertisers to help pay for this project assuming we all like what we see. Please be patient with us on this as we anticipate a few bugs in the system at first as we all learn together how this new technology can best make your night at a Colts game more enjoyable. Thanks for your understanding.
