Corning Bulldogs News Release
Corning, NY. The ABA Corning Bulldogs have announced the blockbuster of all blockbuster signings. The Corning Bulldogs have signed Jaaron Greene, a 7' 275 lb center who comes with a background just as impressive as his height.
Jaaron played his high school basketball for prep school national power house Mt. Zion Academy which has many alumni currently playing in the NBA, including NBA superstar Tracy McGrady. During his senior season at Mt. Zion (2002-03), he averaged 12.2ppg, 9.8rpg, 1.4bpg for a high school team that was considered by many to be just as good as a lot of NCAA D-1 shcool.
During his senior season, Jaaron was left to make the hard decision that many players just wish they could even have the change to be in a position to make. Jaaron had to choose from jumping straight to the NBA or going to play NCAA D-1 basketball. The Mt. Zion sensation eventually decided not to jump to the NBA and to play at George Washington University where he had family living close to the campus.
Jaaron ws never able to live up to the NBA hype that surrounded him while at Mt. Zion. Four games into his freshman season, Jaaron severely sprained his thumb and was given a medical red shirt. The following year, he was ruled academically ineligible after just one game. His college days were over as he would never again regain the good academic standing in the eyes of the NCAA.
James R. Shutz, the Corning Bulldogs GM/Head Coach had the following to say: "This is a 7' tall player who was once considered to be a solid NBA prospect at just 18 years old. When he decided to go pro a few months ago, the phones started ringing off the hook for him. We are truly blessed to have a star center here in Corning. The 2007-08 ABA championship belongs to the Corning Bulldogs; anything less than a league championship is no longer acceptable."
On Sat, Nov 10, the Bulldogs take on the Houston Takers on the campus of Corning Community College. Tip of is slated for 715pm. All single game tickets will be General Admission and can be purchased at the door for all 18 home games starting 45 minutes prior to the game.
