Saint John Riptide News Release

Manchester, NH-The Manchester Millrats announce that they have signed 6'2 guard Charles Easterling from Hartford, CT. Easterling was the top rated player in productivity, out of 500 players attending the USBA International Exposure Camp in Blue River, OR in August.

He earned his nickname "The Beast" due to his strength and ability to finish over bigger players around the rim. Last spring, Easterling earned an All Star berth while playing for the Eugene Chargers of the IBL, where he averaged 19.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.

His performances at the Hartford Pro-Am summer league are now the stuff of legend, where in one game he posted 59 points in three quarters against teams featuring NBA players. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Ryan Gomes said of Easterling "No player I have played against can cover Charles effectively one on one."

In high school, he is the only player to ever lead two different Connecticut high schools to state championships (Bulkeley HS and Weaver HS). In 2002, Easterling earned First Team All New England, and First Team All Connecticut honors. Played one season at Kilgore Junior College in Texas where he averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.

"The Beast will make an immediate impact with the Millrats - fans will love his high energy and relentless style of play," explained Millrats GM Ian McCarthy, "his hard work and effort make Charles the prototypical Millrat player".

The Millrats are a new entry in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and will play their home games in the ‘Fieldhouse' on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. The season and home opener is set for Sunday November 11, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. versus the Boston Blizzard. Single game, season and half season ticket plans are on sale now on www.manchestermillrats.com or by calling 1-866-9-GET TIX (1-866-943-8849).
