October 15, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Houston Takers News Release

Houston, TX. The ABA Houston Takers are teaming up with Elves and More to assist them in December to build over 20,000 bicycles for the underprivileged children in the Houston area. "We are now pushing a campaign for volunteers to assist the players and myself building these bikes," said team owner Larry Leonard III. "We have also decided to donate at least 150 tickets to a foster home program in our area and a mentoring program called "The Dream Team" which is stationed in Cleveland, Texas."

The team is also joining up with DK Novels which has published a book about not talking to strangers and players will start reading the book to schools in the Heights area. "We really hope that the kids take advantage of this opportunity to educate themselves about strangers," said Diane King, author of the book. "This is an important year for us in the ABA and we have to be willing to educate and help everyone we possibly can," added Leonard.
