Despite the fact that the Ottawa 67's played only two of their three scheduled games, this past weekend, they made up for it with more than their fair share of action. Before Saturday's matchup with the Hamilton Bulldogs was postponed, the Barber Poles dropped a hard-fought Thursday game on the road, but earned an overtime win at home on Friday, taking two of a possible four points.

Here's your recap of the weekend that was for the 67's:

Thursday, January 20

Ottawa 67's: 3 at Peterborough Petes: 5

It looked like everything was set to go right for the 67's, on Thursday. Luca Pinelli got the team started with two goals in the first period, and Thomas Johnston added another, as the Barber Poles stormed their way into the second period with a 3-1 lead.

Alas, the second frame was all Petes. They responded with three goals of their own, and found themselves with a 4-3 lead heading into the third.

Despite a furious rally by the 67's, and some incredibly-timed saves from Will Cranley, Peterborough was able to find an empty-netter, and send Ottawa home with a 5-3 defeat.

Of note, 2021 first-round draft selection Chris Barlas recorded his first OHL point, with an assist on Johnston's goal.

Friday, January 21

Niagara IceDogs: 3 at Ottawa 67's: 4 (Overtime)

Faced with another difficult second period, this time on home ice, the 67's were able to fight their way back into the game, setting up a Vinzenz Rohrer overtime winner to deliver the victory.

Will Gerrior opened the scoring just 4:20 in, with his second goal in three games, but the IceDogs were able to respond, sending these two teams to the second period, tied at 1-1.

Ottawa kept their foot on the gas, however, with another quick start in the second. A Brad Gardiner one-timer found the back of the net for his second of the year, just after 4:54 had elapsed, and the 67's found themselves in the driver's seat once again.

Despite the positive beginning, the second period was again looking like a sticking point for Ottawa, when two quick Niagara goals gave the road team a 3-2 lead.

This time, Ottawa had a response. As the clock ticked down in the frame, Alex Johnston stole the puck deep in Niagara territory, and tied the game with his second of the campaign. The overager's marker sent the 67's into the third on a high, and after a hard-fought period, Ottawa headed to overtime for the second time in seven days.

Niagara had a series of chances early in the overtime, but Max Donoso held firm, sending the Barber Poles on the attack. A nice cycle play saw Rohrer streak into the IceDogs zone, storm past the defender, and fire his first career overtime winner home to seal it for the 67's.
