OTTAWA - Sasha Chmelevski snapped a 13-game goalless drought with a game-winning overtime goal for the Ottawa 67's. They took their second win in as many days, defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-4 in the extra frame.

Chmelevski's goal puts Ottawa in seventh in the OHL's eastern conference, two points ahead of the Niagara IceDogs as the teams jockey for playoff position.

Head coach and general manager Jeff Brown says his team will gladly take the two points.

"The result was very satisfying," Brown said. "We found a way to win - we've been losing games that we should probably win ... we'll take it."

Ottawa and Hamilton played to a scoreless first period before the 67's broke out for the first two goals of the game. Austen Keating finished off a three-way passing play on the left side of the net, beating Hamilton starter Kaden Fulcher for the first goal of the game on the power play.

Then Patrick White followed him up with a second power play goal moments later. Playing in his 200th OHL game, White used the seam to get some space and fired home his 21st goal of the 2016-17 campaign, making the score 2-0 Ottawa.

White wasn't the only player taking part in his 200th OHL game. Brown was engaging in his 200th game behind the 67's bench.

Brown said White's career has been filled with great moments. "What a pick-up for us this summer," he said. "We'd probably be lost without him. He's a great leader, hometown kid - really happy for him."

Hamilton battled back into the game late in the second, tying the game with two goals under 20 seconds apart. However, the 67's got the last laugh in the second, with Travis Barron scoring at 19:33. Kyle Auger's point shot banked off the glass and right into the slot onto Barron's stick. He made no mistake, giving Ottawa the lead back.

Brandon Saigeon opened the scoring on the third period at 4:39 to tie it up again, then Kody Clark got his third goal in two games when he finished a jam play at the side of the Hamilton net.

Hamilton tied the seesaw affair again, before Chmelevski's overtime heroics ended the game.

22 seconds into extra time, Chmelevski danced into the middle of the ice and used a Bulldogs defender as a screen, firing a shot passed Fulcher for the crucial two points.

Ottawa returns to action to face Niagara tomorrow afternoon, as they try to fend them off and keep seventh spot locked down.
