67's GM James Boyd Back with Team Canada for '23 World Juniors

OTTAWA - Fresh off of a gold medal at this past summer's iteration of the tournament, Ottawa 67's General Manager James Boyd has again been tapped to lead Team Canada, at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Boyd was among the Team Canada staff announced Wednesday for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

"It is always a great honour and privilege to represent the 67s and the Ontario Hockey League at this prestigious event," said Boyd. "I am excited to continue working in tandem with our Hockey Canada staff as we prepare for the competition."

Boyd, 46, returns as the U20 Lead for the Program of Excellence management group, after a gold medal victory at the summer 2022 tournament, rescheduled from December 2021 due to the spread of COVID-19. With Barber Poles Head Coach Dave Cameron also behind the bench, the Canadian squad went undefeated throughout the tournament, before defeating Finland 3-2 in overtime to win the gold.

"We are thrilled to welcome back [Head Coach Dennis Williams] and James, following a gold medal at the 2022 World Juniors to help bring momentum and consistency from our success in the summer," said Hockey Canada Director of Player Personnel Alan Millar.

Canada's National Junior Team will gather at the Avenir Centre in Moncton for a four-day selection camp, December 9-12, before selecting a final roster ahead of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship. The selection camp roster will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2023 World Juniors are set to take place in Halifax - Moncton, and Canada will open the tournament on Boxing Day, against Czechia at 7:30pm ET, beginning the hunt for their 20th gold medal.
